The Impco hydraulic self-locking rod clamp is fitted to the feed system of both the Shaft Sinking Jumbo and the Sidewall Support Rig, and is available as a standalone auxiliary. It grips drill rods and split sets securely for clamping and collaring operations, holding the steel positively even if hydraulic pressure is lost — a fail-safe, self-locking design.
The clamp makes rod handling fast and repeatable, removes the need for hands near rotating steel, and significantly reduces the risk of planted or damaged rods. Machined and assembled in-house at Rosslyn, it is built for long service life in abrasive shaft-bottom conditions.
